Playa Kalki

Here on the remote west side of Curacao you find some of the most beautiful beaches of the island. Just a five minutes walk from Nos Soño is Playa Kalki a white sandy beach, excellent for swimming and snorkeling. Here is the home of Go West Diving and from leaves the boat for snorkel- and dive trips. The reef infront is one of the best shore dives of the island, known as ``Alice in Wonderland``. There is also a beach bar that is run by the Kura Hulanda Lodge.

Playa Piscado

Playa Piscado, the name says it, is a fishermans beach. Not even 10 min by foot you can watch the daily business of the fisherman and buy some fresh fish. The beach became famous the last years for the many turtles that come here to feed on the leftovers from the cleaned fish. It is an excellent place to see turtles on a dive or snorkeling. Pretty busy on the weekend, when the small restaurant is open.

Playa Forti

Playa Forti is just a few minutes further in the bay, there is a restaurant and you watch the guys jump of the cliff.

Playa Kenepa

10 minutes by car you can reach the Knip beaches, Playa Kenepa. The Kleine and Grote Knip. Both are beautiful white sanded beaches, with all the facillities you need.

Further on the road on this side oft he island, there are many more that you can reach by car in about 30 to 45 min. The very popular ones like Cas Abao or Porto Marie, with diveshops and restaurants or the more remote places like Playa Daibooi or Playa Hulu. All these are excellent shore dives as well.

NATURE NATURE NATURE

Right behind our proberty you can start your nature walk. There are a couple of hiking trails that leads you to the rugged northcoast of Curacao. From the light house you have a spectacular view over the caribbean sea and the atlantic ocean. You find Watamula, a blow hole in the reef top, where the ocean spray shoots out a few meters high sometimes.
On your way you have a good chance to see the Wara Wara bird and the green yellow parrots. There are wild donkeys, whitetailed dear and of course some lizzards. You find different kind of cactus and some endemic plants you only find on these islands.

NATIONAL PARKS NATIONAL PARKS

Less than 20 min from Nos Sono there are two National Parks: the smaller Shete Boka and Christoffel Park

Shete Boka

At Shete Boka you get a good impression of the wild and rough north coast, here is a small caves and on natural bridges you can cross the ocean. You can go by car or hike along the coast to Boca Pistol, where the waves create a spray that shoots up like a…pistol.

Christoffel Park

Christoffel Park with the museum in the Landhuis Savonet are a must for natural lovers and for those who like a little bit more challenging hikes. You can climb up tot he peak of Mt. Christoffel on 400 m. From here you have an amazing view over the island that's definitely worth the effort. You need water and good shoes for that hike, it makes sense to start EARLY!

Willemstad

From Nos Sono you can reach the lively capitol in about 45 min with your car. By public bus it takes about twice the time. You can explore the well known attractions like the Queen Emma bridge, the Riff Fort and the colorful waterfront houses. The Kura Hulanda Hotel and Museum are also worth a visit.

Pietermaai District

something really different

Small shops, bars & restaurants have found their home in Pietermaai District. Together they create a lively, cozy and safe part of Curaçao. Not all neglected monuments are restored yet, but that is what gives Pietermaai that special vivid and raw edge. In short, the right location for people looking for something really different.

Curaçao Liqueur Distillery Tour

A visit to the Curaçao Liqueur Distillery is a journey through local history. You can experience and learn about the production process and enjoy the taste such as it has been produced since 1896.

Sunday Market at Barber

Barber is the next „bigger“ village on the way to Willemstad from Nos Sono. There is a bank (MCB) with ATM cash machine, a Chinese supermarket with restaurant and a nice church with a beautiful yard and the oldest tree on Curacao. Beside this there is a local market every Sunday. Here you find local farmers that sell fruits and small living plants, a lot of handcrafted items, clothes and souvenirs. You get a nice impression of the local life, sometimes musicians are there.

Sint Willibrordus

Sint Willibrordus village is located at the western part of the Curacao Island. It is about 20 kilometers from our place. The area is mainly famous for the St. Willibrord Church which is a historical architecture. The neo-gothic style of architecture of the church makes it very attractive. Two beautiful beaches are closeby: Daaibooibaai and the Porto Marie Bay with it's famous double reef. These, and the housereef in the Coral Estate Resort closeby are amazing divesites as well.

Flamingo Lagun & Nena Sanchez gallery in landhuis Jan Kok

Here are a few salt plantations located near Sint Willibrordus village. There you find a population of the pink flamingos, you can observe them from a platform and take a walk around the saltpan. The area is also know as Williwood… you’ll find out why! The Landhuis Jan Kok is one of the oldest on Curacao, and for many local people a symbol of the cruelty of the slavery. Today the Curacao artist Nena Sanchez shows her colourfull artwork. Nena Sanchez sadly passed away in 2017 but the gallery is still open.

Klein Curacao

Is a 1,7 square kilometer tropical paradise, situated less than 1 hour southeast off Curacao. Divers and snorkelers find white sanded beaches, turquise water and a stunning marine life. Unhabited, aside from day trippers, fisherman and turtles. This small island treasure is worth the trip for divers and snorklers. The day starts at 7:00 am at the dock in Spanish Waters. Ask us for booking recommendations.

If you want to know more about Curacao and his history, colonisation, slavery and the fight for freedom you can visit some of the museums on the island. Most of them are located in historical plantation houses which are worth a visit anyway:

Kenepa

Landhuis Knip with the Tula museum, just 15 min from Nos soño. Here the fight for freedom starts in 1795 when Tula leads the slave revolution.

Grote St.Martha

Another Landhuis and a plantation is Landhuis Grote St.Martha a beautiful proberty and working farm run with handicapped people, they are happy to show you around.

Klein St. Martha

Landhuis Klein St. Martha close by with a nice restaurant offers an amazing view offer St.Martha Bay. Go there for the sunset, it is 30 min from our place.

Ascencion

Landhuis Ascencion has local market with nice souvenirs and local artwork every 1st Sunday a month. Local musicans play there from 10.00 till 14.00 and you can have good local food and drinks.

Savonet

The Savonet Landhuis is an museum about the culture on Curacao and is the entry to the Christoffel National Park. Absolutely worth a visit.

Mountain biking/cycling

The trails to ride here are from easy to impossible. Always wear a helmet! There is a small community of mountainbikers on the island that try to keep the trails free of thorntrees. You ride along the north coast and have some amazing views. On your way home the wind will help. Running / Marathon

Our area is perfect for runners. If you want to prepare for a long distance competion like Curacao Marathon (10 km to 42 km) in November Nos Sono is the perfect place.

Disc Golf

There is a challenging disc golf course build by our friend David Livingstone from SOLFOOD a few minutes away from our place. David loves to take you there and gets in a competition with you. But you can also explore it on your own.

Kayaking

Our friend and neighbour Alex guides kayaktours through the mangroves in Santa Martha Bay and gives stand-up-paddling classes as well. It’s fun!

Stay In

Our place is for self supply and you have have everything to prepare your meals in your apartment or the guesthouse. But on this side of the island there are some amazing restaurant with excellent food, nice views and good service for lunch and dinner.

Sol food

5 min walk from our place you find SOLFOOD run by our friends Sunshine and David. A variety of huge pizzas, gorgeous ribeye steaks, burger and salad. Open in the weekend only.

Cactus Cafe

Trio Penotti now called the Cactus Cafe is inside the Landhuis Savonet in the entry area of Christofel Park. Pasta, Steak, fresh fish... excellent! 10 min by car.

Landhuis klein St. Martha

Landhuis klein St. Martha has a spectacular view over the Santa Martha Bay and is perfect for a drink and dinner with a stunning sunset. About 20 min by car.

Rancho Sobrino

There is Rancho Sobrino and the Blue View on the way to Lagun, 10 min by car. So some options if you don’t want to go to far for dinner and you are to lazy to cook.
